Canine Taste Tester Squadron: Himalayan Goji Berry Cookies
Here is the feedback from the Squadron's taste-testing activity in the summer of 2008. Our Himalayan Goji Berry Cookies were introduced to Squadron members after significant in-house and Squadron cadre testing. You can read about all of our Squadron members here.

Cooper is a full grown Golden Retriever. She loved her cookes. As usual with a new treat, she sniffed it first and walked around with it in her mouth for a little bit. Then once she decided that she liked it she devoured it. She ate all the crumbs and went to the cupboard where the other cookie was and stared at the door, willing the treat to appear.
Cooper really enjoys her samples that come from you.

Hello Boston Baked Bonz, loyal taste-tester Sable here!
I was very excited to receive another package, I could tell by the smell that it was for me! My mom carefully unpacked the Himalayan Goji Berry Cookies for me while I waited patiently. The cookies were a nice size for bigger dogs, but easy to break into pieces for smaller dogs. I also noticed that they weren't overly hard and crunchy, so they might be nice for older dogs with weaker jaws too. Finally I got to conduct the taste test. I have to tell you guys, these are amazing! My mom thought I was going to eat the carpet trying to get up every single tiny crumb. I don't know how you guys do it, but every new treat you come up with is fantastic! I was supposed to save the second cookie for the next day, but I followed my mom around, staring at her, until she gave up and handed it to me. She also went online and read about all the possible health benefits of goji berries and Himalayan salt. Very interesting! I like that treats that taste so yummy can be good for you too! I want to thank you guys for letting me be a member of the Taste-Tester Squadron, and for making such great vegan treats.

I was very pleased with the batch of Himalayan goji berry cookies I received to test taste! My mom says they reminded her of oatmeal cookies or something she might find in a health food store. And that's a good thing, right?
To tell you how good they are, I wolfed down every bit of treat immediately after it was served and duly inspected the floor for stray crumbs. I was given the treats in half, but since they were so hearty looking, I didn't mind. That also makes them last longer! As a golden retriever, I could have had a whole cookie as an extra special treat.
These have been my favorite treats so far because I like crunchy hearty treats. They take me longer to eat, so I feel like I've gotten more of a snack. Since I like to chew on things, these satisfy that craving.
I would abso-root-rey recommend these treats to my friends. I think they would be enjoyed by any size dog, as they are easy to break into smaller pieces, but boyohboy, a big dog would really go for these cookies! I'll have to tell my friend Zeus, a big, slobbery Newfoundland, about them.
Thanks for having me on your taste test squadron! You guys are so creative with your ingredients!

Feedback on Himalayan Goji Berry Cookies:
Daisy & Violet,
I just loved these new chewy treats. My parents like to get me the small cookies like your Quinoa Crunchies, but keep sending me these bigger treats too. Usually I am only allowed half of the big treats, but I got to eat the whole thing for my tasting. I liked that better, I ate every crumb to show I don’t need them cut in half. Once I smelled the package, I knew the treats were for me and I wanted them right away. Of course Mom and Dad make me run through my normal tricks before I get to eat one, but it’s worth it. They are even trying to get me to do a new trick, but I have been refusing to roll over. I guess they know my soft spot because once I smelled the Goji Berry, I’ll do any trick. I hope they realize I’m only going to roll over for these…..well maybe for a few of my other favorite Baked Bonz too. Once they FINALLY gave me the cookie, I ran to my favorite “treat eating” bed and went into Berry Bliss. The treat was slightly chewy and broke into smaller pieces very easily. I like that. It took me a few minutes to eat the whole thing and I took my time licking up every crumb. The next morning, I thought I might have missed a crumb, so I spent a few minutes licking my bed just in case. There weren’t any crumbs, but I might have gotten a little extra taste from eating it in that spot. I can’t wait to get a full box of these so I can keep enjoying them.
Great job as usual,
Bella

Feedback on Himalayan Goji Berry Cookies:
Hello Violet & Daisy,
Thank you for sending me the delicious treats! I must admit I was not expecting them so when they came in the mail I though nothing of it. However, once my mom unwrapped the package I became interested. I sniffed around a little bit to try to determine what was in them. The Goji berry was an excellent choice of ingredients not only was it tasty but my mom says that it will make me grow up to be big and strong! As much as I loved the treats and would recommend them to other dogs with a healthy appetite like I mine, I think that other breads may not appreciate them as much. The reason I say this is because at first glance and first lick I chose a plain old milk bone. Not until I really bit into the treat did I realize I liked it. I also think that smaller dogs may have difficulties with them after a few days since they seem to harden quickly and become more difficult to break up. Non the less both myself and my parents were pleased, its not often that you find such a healthy and tasty treat all in one!
Hope you are enjoying you summer and your pool! I look forward to hearing from you in the future!
Thanks again.
Dylan

Thank you for the cookies. I did like them. They were very soft and easy to eat. I ate mine very quickly. However, once it started getting harder I didn’t like it as much. Of course I still ate it – but not right away when it was handed to me. My mom and pop only give me a piece at a time because I get a lot of treats throughout the day. But, they were happy because it really didn’t make a mess of the kitchen floor since it was nice and soft.
Riley seemed to be intrigued by the smell. Laurel sorta turned her nose up. She is a hard sell which is amazing considering where she came from.
Laurel smelled the treat and walked away. Then later came and picked it up, carried it back to her crate and it still sits there. She is a hoarder.
Riley sniffed the treat, looked at it and cautiously took it. I had broken it in quarters for a small snack. So we have a tendancy to give smaller high value treats.
I loved the packaging and the idea of taste testing. Great marketing.
Riley eventually ate it and left crumbs. The treat Riley goes nuts for so far are non vegan/non vegetarian. He is going to be a hard nut to crack.

I was very surprised when my Himalayan Goji Berry cookie treats arrived in the mail! I could smell them immediately and couldn't wait to try them! The cookies were a little big for a 5 lb Toy Yorkie but my mom & dad easily broke them into perfect pieces for me. At first, I had a little fun tossing my treat up in the air and rolling it around. I was surprised at how easy the cookie was to chew, even with my small teeth! I loved it & didn't even leave a crumb! I would recommend this cookie to any dog especially smaller ones like me!
