Here is the feedback from the Squadron's taste-testing activity in the Fall of 2007. Our Pumpkin Pie Muffins were introduced to Squadron members after significant in-house and Squadron cadre testing. You can read about all of our Squadron members here.

Mmmmmm….the smell of cinnamon and pumpkin – is it Thanksgiving already? That is what Val was thinking when she first took a sniff of the new Pumpkin Pie Muffins. Val has a particular fondness for pumpkin, once when she was a young pup we noticed that a small pumpkin went missing from our living room table. We looked everywhere for it, we were suspicious of Val but we could not find any remains, she couldn’t possibly have eaten all of it, even the stem, could she? Well, needless to say that evening when we took her out for her nightly “business” our suspicions were confirmed. There were enough pumpkin seeds on our lawn for a whole pumpkin patch! This is how she got her nickname Pumpkin Head. So when we gave her the first Pumpkin Pie Muffin naturally she thought they were made especially for her. She gobbled it right up and was begging for more!

Hello there!
We received our first box of tester muffins--thank you!
This being our first box, we don't have any other flavors to compare them to, but the one we gave Candy was set upon in about 0.3 seconds. It did take her a while to eat, though, because these are big substantial treats! Don't know if that is a problem with your smaller dogs -- it wasn't for us (Candy is a golden retriever). They smelled good, like a good dog treat, but not really a good human treat. I liked the little muffin shapes, it's obvious the batter was put into those mini muffin tins, which is cute. Thanks a bunch, and we look forward to our next batch.

Checking in for Bella about the Pumpkin Pie Muffins you sent her to try. When she first saw me walk in with the box, Bella started bouncing around the room. I'm not sure if it was the smell or the box itself because she associates this with the Blueberry Muffins, which she adores. She instantly went through her routine of sitting, giving paw, lying down, and twitching hoping it will get her the treat right away. This was all without us even telling her a command.
When Bella did get the treat, she ran directly to her over-sized bed and dropped it. She then sniffed and licked the treat and seemed to like what she tasted. It took her a little while to bite into it, but finally broke it up and started gobbling it down. She seemed to like it, but not go bonkers like the blueberry. Unfortunately, she didn't finish it, which is rare for Bella. She usually leaves nothing behind. We figured out why a few minutes later when she threw up the treat. I don't know if it was the Soy Milk or something else, but this variety didn't sit well in Bella. It doesn't look like it's a taste issue, rather an ingredient that unsettles her stomach. Five minutes later, she had forgotten about it and was licking up the crumbs from her bed.

Coco received the Pumpkin Pie muffins today to taste. When I opened up the box for her, they smelled amazing, I have to admit I actually took a nibble! Not bad… LOL. Coco loved the smell of them too though as she stuck her nose in the box. I loved how they are soft enough to break up. At first I gave her a piece and like with all new treats, she tasted it and spit it out, but she kept coming back for more, so I just kept giving her a piece until she stopped spitting it out, and finally she started chewing it, and loved it ! I broke it up into more pieces and she ate every bit of it, even the pieces that crumbled all over the carpet. It takes her a while to enjoy her treats, but the smell of those are definitely something that attracts the pups. I love the fact that I can pronounce & know every ingredient that is in your treats, and am happy to know that I’m giving her something healthy & yummy.
I will give her more tomorrow, and when she finishes these, I’ll be buying some definitely!
Thank you again!
I admit that it was hard waiting for my muffins to arrive. Once we received your e-mail that they were on their way, Mommy and I both began counting down the days. At last, they've arrived!
Luckily, Mommy was kind enough this evening to not make me wait at all before ripping the box open and allowing me to get my paws on the goods. At first, I sniffed it, curious about the new and intriguing scent that made its way through the room....ymmm.... My tail began to wag uncontrollably. Mommy gently broke the muffin in half so that I could have a perfectly-sized piece to...well, cram in my mouth. I walked around with it for a bit, not sure if I should hide it, play with it, or gobble it up right then and there.
Fearful that someone might take it away, I chose to hide it for the time being and quickly came back for seconds.
Mom took the last half of my muffin and crumbled it a bit before offering to me...I guess she wanted me to take more lady-like bites this time. WOOSH! It got licked up in seconds. That was good! It was just the right texture with the right touch of sweetness...and who doesn't love pumpkin? Even Mommy couldn't resist commenting on how tasty it smelled. (And no, I didn't share it with her...this was my muffin after all!) Once I licked every morsel, I went back for my first piece--you know, the one that I had so cleverly hid.
Upon observation, I have decided that these muffins serve both as a wonderful snack and a toy. After retrieving the rest of my muffin from my secret hiding spot, I laid it on the floor, danced around it, and had a good ol' time tossing it about for a few minutes before deciding that yes, I'd devour this piece too.
Thankfully, my muffins are not all gone---I've got another left that Mommy says we'll save for later---hooray!
But I am happy to report that these muffins are very tasty, obviously well made, and are a rare find in the world of doggie treats. I loved the unique flavor, especially. They are also the perfect size for us smaller pooches, which we little ones appreciate.
The final word?
I think these Pumpkin Pie muffins will make any dog dance with glee and would highly suggest spoiling the well loved pooch in your life with a basket of these delectable treats for the holidays!
Sincerely yours,

Hello Violet and Daisy - Thank you very much for letting me try the muffins. They were very tasty and I ate them faster than my mom and dad could give them to me! The only comment I would make is that since my parents didn't want me to eat the whole muffin all at once (since I could have choked on it), they said it was pretty hard to break it into smaller pieces. Maybe you could make smaller ones for smaller dogs? Other than that, I loved the taste and they smelled great too.
Hope you have a nice Fall and get to run through a lot of piles of leaves like I love doing when my mom and dad rake outside!

My goodness, do I ever have a lot to say about those pumpkin pie muffins!! When they arrived at my home, my mama told me that I had a special delivery and started to open the box for me. How exciting! It seemed like it took her forever to open that box, but when she finally did, it was worth my wait. The smell coming out of it was incredible, so I promptly started telling my mama how much I wanted what was in it. She told me that I had to work a bit for one of the treats inside and had me do all kinds of turns, sits, downs & stays. She even made me "leave it" while I walked past it to her. How I wanted that muffin, but I was willing to do whatever it took to get it, so I just stared at it longingly. After I "left it", she fiiiiinally told me I could "take it". I grabbed it as fast as I could & started running around with it, tossing it in the air and batting it around like I do with my favorite things. After several minutes of enjoying it that way, I caved in and started munching away on it on my bed. I couldn't wait any longer! They were pretty big, so it took me a while to eat. They were doggie heavenly, I tell you! Don't tell my mama, but they were just as good if not better than the treats she makes me. When I was done with it, I frantically searched for any tiny morsel that was left, but sadly, it was completely gone. Not only were they absolutely delicious, but being pumpkin pie muffins made them extra special to me because my mama & papa call me "pumpkin".
I think every dog in the world should have those muffins each and every day. They're that good!! Thank you for sharing them with me!
