Canine Taste Tester Squadron: Quinoa Crunchies

Quinoa Crunchies

Here is the feedback from the Squadron's taste-testing activity in the late winter of 2008. Our Quinoa Crunchies were introduced to Squadron members after significant in-house and Squadron cadre testing. You can read about all of our Squadron members here.

Molly & Keagan!

Squadron Cadet

Name: Molly & Keagan
Birthday: 21 March 2000 & 21 October 1999
Location: Lakeville, CT
Breed: Brittany

Feedback on Quinoa Crunchies:

Molly is a gulper she took her treat and in one crunch it was gone.

Keagan smelled it then approved and one crunch gone.

The crunchies were too small. We are medium size dogs Brittany's. They would be great for training. We are ages 8 & 9 and shake hands, speak, sit, stay, and down are some of what we do for treats.

The taste, crunchy consistency, and smell were very good but you should sell them as treats for small dogs and training treats

Feedback on Quinoa Crunchies:

When a package came in the mail addressed to me I was very excited. When I noticed that it was from Boston Baked Bonz I was head over paws excited! My mom let me sniff the package then she proceeded to open it for me. She pulled out the letter, and to be honest I was not that interested in listening to her read it, I wanted the cookies! After sitting down like a good girl, she gave me one of these new treats. It smelled just like my peanut butter crunchies – and I am not complaining because those are one of my favorites. After I had my first taste I realized these were not my ordinary peanut butter crunchies, there was a different kind of nutty flavor and some added crunch. It was yummy! I had to go back and ask my mom to read the letter again, I wanted to know the name of these scrumptious treats. She needed to see the phonetic spelling before she got it right. Keenwah Crunchies. Hard to say, good to eat!

Feedback on Quinoa Crunchies:

When my Quinoa Crunchies arrived in the mail, my brother Jasper, who’s a beagle, was the first to sniff them, foiling my plan to keep them all to myself. Still, I knew I had an important job to do and couldn’t become distracted by the doggie politics that normally fill my days, so I urged my mom to open the treat package and let me do my thing. When the first treat appeared, Jasper just couldn’t restrain himself and gulped it up as fast as he could. Honestly, I don’t know how he even tasted it! (For the record, he doesn’t eat everything with such gusto, though. Some things are just too bland for him and he’ll stick his nose up in the air with disgust.) It may have been a combination of dismay at my brother’s behavior and a slight tentativeness about the size and texture of the treat, but I hesitated before indulging myself. My mom, who thinks I am such a child, grabbed the treat and broke it in two for me. How embarrassing! It was, I admit, just what I needed to be able to complete my mission. Taking one small piece at a time, I finally got a taste of something quite fabulous. Peanut butter: an ingredient near and dear to a Jack Russell’s heart! I took the second treat right from my mom’s hand and gobbled it up with only a little trouble, leaving few, if any discernable crumbs behind. Afterwards, I was feeling pretty nostalgic for those treats, so I reminisced awhile with Jasper about the whole crazy taste-testing experience. I can say, with confidence, that both of us would do it all over again, given half the chance!

P.S.—I may be small, but I am the toughest guy around. Ask anyone! Still, my mom said that I have to report to you that I have some trouble with big treats, and recommend even smaller bites for guys like me. She embarrasses me, but she is usually right when it comes to the things I like!

Winston & Spencer!

Squadron Cadet

Name: Winston & Spencer
Birthday: 7 July 2002 & 27 May 2006
Location: West Roxbury, MA
Breed: tri-color Cavalier King Charles Spaniel & Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Feedback on Quinoa Crunchies:

We (Winston and Spencer) LOVED the Quinoa Crunchies. Mom liked the size of the crunchies. She didn't have to cut them up for us. so the size was perfect. What was even better was that Mom didn't like the crunchies as much as we did, so we got to enjoy them ourselves and we didn't have to share them with our Mom. We are lucky if we even get The Blueberry Muffins and Cranberry Clove Muffins, Mom and her friends "share them with us". Back to the Quinoa Crunchies - We were so excited when the delivery came. We knew what was in the envelope. We gobbled them right up - no crumbs at all.
Ok, this is Mom talking now. Winston and Spencer are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Winston will be 6 and Spencer will be 2. I really liked the size of the crunchies because my guys are little. They liked them as much as all your other products, although these crunchies disappeared faster than the muffins did. I would definitely recommend them to others. Funny thing is - I just read about the benefits of quinoa. What a surprise to see you include it in a
cookie. Thanks again - Winston, Spencer and Mom

Feedback on Quinoa Crunchies:

Hi Everybody! Bohdi (and Devlin and Sophie) here! We just received the Quinoa Crunchies and boy were they delicious! Mommy loves the fact that you're using Quinoa in your treats...she eats it all the time and said it is so healthy! We loved the small size and the little hint of peanut butter in them made them scrumptious. Thanks again for letting us taste test and keep the yummy test treats coming!

Squadron Cadet

Name: Cubby & Gracie
Birthday: 2002
Location: Danville, CA
Breed: Chinese Foo

Feedback on Quinoa Crunchies:

Here are the taste test results of the Quinoa crunchies. Cubby and Gracie knew that they were from Boston Baked Bonz. Their enthusiasm was off the charts.

They immediately devoured the treats without their customary due diligence. Cubby thought that the treats were perfect as is. No improvements or upgrades necessary. The same for Gracie. They want to know when their dad can begin ordering them.

The size of the treats are perfect for medium size dogs at or around 40lbs. They receive many different treats, but by their reaction to these snacks I would say that you have an unequivocal success forthcoming. By all means start baking today.

Dogs who regularly eat healthy, low fat cookies will go nuts over this product. They were definitely the most enthusiastic over this product versus others they have had. Cubby drooled all over the floor after he ate the first one. They asked why were there an uneven number in the bag?

Anyway, thank you for the test samples and send more when you feel so inclined. They love your cookies.

Feedback on Quinoa Crunchies:

Thank you so much for the samples of quinoa crunchies! It was quite a surprise to me when my mama told me that I had a special delivery. As soon as I sniffed the package, I knew it was something super delicious! I couldn't contain my excitement and got a bit impatient with my mama when she was opening up the package for me. Well, fiiiiiiinally, she got it open, but much to my dismay, she made me work for one of the delectable smelling goodies inside! I did everything I was told and even threw in a few extra pretty sits in there without even being told to do them. I wanted one of those treats bad! After what seemed like forever, my mama finally gave me one. I took it and ran as fast as I could to my bed. I had to inspect it at first to see what it was all about. Hmmm, not bad! After about a half minute of checking it out, I gobbled it up and went running back to my mama for another one. She told me I would have to wait until later that day, though. Can you believe that? Well, now they are all gone and I loved each and every one. Yummy!!

Thank you so much!
